Washington, D.C. -- Forty-five members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to U.S. Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-AZ), Chairman of the House Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, today requesting conferees provide more funding to Armenia in aid and assistance than what the House approved earlier this year in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2004 Foreign Operations spending bill.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, hosted a briefing on Capitol Hill today with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Ordway regarding the recent meetings of the US-Armenia Economic Task Force (USATF). Members attending the meeting included: U.S. Reps. Shelley Berkley (D-NV), Phil English (R-PA), Steve Rothman (D-NJ) and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA).
Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), co-founder of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans and chairman of the Caucus Kashmir Task Force, hosted a briefing on Capitol Hill late last week on the conflict in Kashmir and the mistreatment of the Kashmiri Pandits. The briefing included presentations by Dr. Vijay Sazawal and Mr. Jeevan Zutshi from the Indo-American Kashmir Forum, and Mr. B. Raman, former head of counter-terrorism at the Research and Analysis Wing of Indias External Intelligence Agency.
"Mr. Speaker, for centuries, American Indians were forced to give up their ancestral lands by this country's early settlers. It was one of the most shameful episodes in American history.
"The U.S. Government subsequently placed the Indian lands in trust. But the Department of the Interior has not met its trust responsibility and American Indians were forced to sue in court to protect their rights. Now, the court has made a decision in favor of the American Indians, and this conference report would essentially delay or reverse that courts decision.
Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ileana Res-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) joined together today at a news conference on Capitol Hill to announce the introduction of a House resolution (H. Con. Res. 311) recognizing the plight of Jewish refugees from Arab countries and calling for a lasting solution to the resettlement of the Palestinian refugees.

Democrats in the Senate and House have been working together on this bill, the Healthcare Equality and Accountability Act of 2003, with the goal of bridging the divide in health care between the general population and minority communities, including African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans-Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans.
Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today called on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate reports that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) denied applications for linguist positions from over 90 Arabic-speaking Sephardic Jews and called on U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft to require the FBI to reconsider the applications. Pallone made the request in a letter to the Attorney General today.
