WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit struck down a prior federal court ruling that had prevented New Jersey from enforcing its safety, health, and environmental regulations on railroad solid waste transfer facilities. The court found that federal law does not necessarily preempt all state regulation of these facilities.

The public awareness campaign is in response to a recent AARP study that found Hispanics in particular have difficulty paying for their prescription medicines. Today’s event was designed to educate New Jersey’s Hispanic community about the availability of patient assistance programs that provide free or nearly free prescription medicines to eligible residents.

The two organizations made the recommendation to the National Marine Fisheries Service today during their meeting to finalize summer flounder management measures for 2008.
