Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, issued the following statement today denouncing the Bush administration's announcement to initiate a new leasing program for oil and gas development in federal offshore waters that includes the waters protected under an existing 26 year moratorium.

Washington, D.C. --- The U.S. House of Representatives today passed a bill introduced earlier this year by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, that reauthorizes the Animal Drug User Fee Act (ADUFA) for another five years and creates an animal generic drug user fee. The New Jersey congressman gave the following statement during debate on the House floor. The bill was passed by voice vote.

Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, introduced bipartisan legislation that will increase public awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) through educational outreach and enhanced research. The legislation will also provide additional support services for families dealing with the disorder.

WASHINGTON, DC A new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released today finds that almost three years after the Part D drug program went into effect, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) still faces significant and continuing problems resolving complaints and grievances filed by seniors and the disabled. The report was requested by U.S. Reps. Henry A. Waxman, John Dingell, Charles Rangel, Pete Stark, and Frank Pallone, Jr., and U.S. Sen.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced today that the House Appropriations Committee has approved $700,000 he requested for the Partnership for Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Science, Inc. (PMAFS) and the National Marine Fisheries Service's James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Crime, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations bill.
