WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) expressed his support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to complete the remediation of the Cornell-Dubilier Electronics Superfund site in South Plainfield, New Jersey. This comes in response to the EPA’s proposed plan to cleanup a nine mile stretch of Bound Brook, which passes next to the former Cornell-Dubilier Electronics facility. Under this proposed plan, the EPA estimates that this fourth and final phase of the cleanup will cost $252 million.
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) encouraged New Jersey fishermen affected by Superstorm Sandy to apply for federal fishery disaster relief funds being administered by the state of New Jersey. This comes in response to the state’s announcement that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will make more than $2 million in grants available to help offset the costs that fishing-related businesses and recreational fishing infrastructure, such marinas and bait-and-tackle shops, incurred as a result of Superstorm Sandy.
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences in Woodbridge, New Jersey has been named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2014. The academy was one of 337 public and private schools from across the country to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School this year.
WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that both the Asbury Park Police Department and the Long Branch Police Department will be awarded a total of $1.37 million in grants to create or preserve law enforcement jobs at their departments. The Asbury Park Police Department will receive $750,000 to hire six police officers and the Long Branch Police Department will receive $625,000 to hire five police officers. The funds were awarded through the Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program.

WASHINGTON, DC —Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the Asbury Park Fire Department has been awarded $24,700 and the Keyport Fire Department has been awarded $11,400 through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. The AFG program is part of a coordinated, ongoing effort by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration to improve the nation’s ability to respond to emergency situations.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Middlesex County, New Jersey has been awarded a $425,000 federal grant through the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Training and Services to End Violence Against Women with Disabilities Grants Program (Disability Grant Program). The Disability Grant Program increases the capacity of organizations to respond to individuals with disabilities who are victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking and to hold perpetrators of such crimes accountable.
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4771, the “Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act,” which was introduced by Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, and Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health. This bill would authorize the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to crack down on bodybuilding products that contain chemical compounds known as anabolic steroids which are often deceptively marketed as dietary supplements.
