Washington, DC— On Friday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m., Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) will join U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regional Administrator Judith A. Enck, and Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry to make an announcement at the Raritan Bay Slag Superfund Site.

The activists are calling on lawmakers to support the Clean Water Protection Act (CWPA), which would offer some basic protections for Appalachian streams. First introduced in 2002, the CWPA (H.R. 1837) was introduced again this week by Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) and currently has 45 co-sponsors.

Washington, DC –This week, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Congressman David Reichert (R-WA) reintroduced the Clean Water Protection Act, legislation with 45 bipartisan cosponsors that would prevent industrial mining waste from entering the water supply and harming human and environmental health.

As daunting as the prospect of similar storms striking in the future is, Pallone says, so too is the continuing opposition of Republican opponents in Congress, who reject the science of climate change.

Although not tied to the weather, another improvement in fishermen's fortunes – hopefully – came on Monday when Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., D-NJ, announced his plan to introduce the first superstorm Sandy supplemental emergency aid bill to the recreational and commercial fishing industries. Pallone's legislation provides $193 million to fully fund the estimated cost to recover storm-affected fisheries.

WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced The Old Bridge Township Board of Education was selected to receive rebates for new clean diesel school buses. The rebates are worth up to $30,000 and are part of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) School Bus Replacement Rebate Program.

NEW JERSEY – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) today sent letters to President Obama to express their concerns regarding the Department of Interior’s (DOI) plan to begin seismic testing off the Atlantic coast. Seismic airgun testing brings the Atlantic coast closer to the risky practice of deepwater oil drilling, the same practice that led to the disastrous Deepwater Horizon Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico three years ago.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ – On Wednesday, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) presented comments at a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) meeting about its proposal to clean up lead contamination at the Raritan Bay Slag Superfund site in Old Bridge and Sayreville. Pallone has long prioritized the cleanup of this contaminated site so the local community may once again access the waterfront area without worry of health hazards. Lead is a toxic metal that can be particularly dangerous to children’s developmental health.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ – On Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 PM Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) will attend a meeting hosted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its plan to cleanup lead contamination at the Raritan Bay Slag Superfund Site in Old Bridge and Sayreville. At the meeting the EPA will explain and receive public comment on its proposed plan. It will take place at the George Bush Senior Center in Old Bridge.
