Long Branch, N.J. – On Monday February 12, at Clean Ocean Action headquarters, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. and environmental leaders stood together to oppose the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NMFS) consideration of permits to allow seismic testing off the Jersey Shore. Six companies that were denied Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) permits during the Obama Administration are currently seeking permits from the Trump Administration, and a decision from NMFS regarding whether to issue those permits is expected soon.

Washington, DC - Today, Congressmen Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Earl Blumeanauer (OR-03) , Don Beyer (VA-08) Jared Huffman (CA-02), Alan Lowenthal (CA-47) David Price (NC-04) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) led more than 150 Members of Congress in requesting that the Trump administration return to the drawing board and remove the lease sales for drilling sales in the Atlantic, Arctic, and Pacific Oceans, as well as the Eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Washington, D.C. – Today Congressmen Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) blasted the Trump Administration for unveiling a reckless plan to open nearly all U.S. waters, including the Atlantic, for offshore drilling. Pallone also called for a lengthy, intensive, and transparent public comment period to give New Jeseryans ample opportunity to have their voices heard on the new plan. He specifically asked that a public hearing be held in New Jersey.

Washington, D.C. – Congressmen Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) led a bipartisan group of 66 members of the House of Representatives in sending a letter to Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, opposing any effort to allow oil and gas leasing in the Atlantic Ocean and Eastern Gulf of Mexico. This letter was sent in response to a July 3rd Request for Information on the preparation of a new five-year National Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Oil and Gas Leasing Program for 2019-2022.

SEA BRIGHT, N.J. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (N.J.-06) today announced the introduction of legislation to protect our beaches by setting national coastal water quality standards, and providing federal funding to states to test water quality and notify the public when conditions are unsafe. The announcement was made at the Sea Bright Public Beach.

New Brunswick, NJ — Today at the Raritan Bay Slag Superfund Site in Laurence Harbor, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and the New Jersey Sierra Club commemorated the creation of the EPA on July 9, 1970. The agency was created through bipartisan efforts during the Nixon administration to protect the nation’s air and water quality and prevent various forms of pollution. The EPA has played a leading role in protecting public health and combatting climate change, taking action on chemical safety and working towards a sustainable future.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) sent a letter to the new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator William B. Long, raising concerns over the agency’s lack of action in resolving flood insurance claims from Superstorm Sandy. He asked that the agency take swift action on behalf of those who have suffered from documented, widespread fraud perpetrated by private insurance companies in the aftermath of the storm.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) helped lead bipartisan reauthorization of the Brownfields program through the Energy and Commerce Committee. The Brownfields program was created in 2002 by legislation authored by Pallone and the late Republican Ohio Rep. Paul Gillmor. The programs’ investments have leveraged more than $22 billion from a variety of public and private sources for cleanup and redevelopment activities. This has resulted in approximately 117,525 jobs nationwide.
