Washington, D.C. --- After hearing from New Jersey independent pharmacists about the problems they are encountering with the new Medicare prescription drug plan, U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today introduced legislation that will expedite drug reimbursements to pharmacists and abolish the practice of co-branding that unfairly benefits large chain pharmacies.

Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. expressed his strenuous opposition to a mandatory saltwater license directly to Dr. William Hogarth, Director of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) today at a House Resources Committee hearing today.

In response to questions from Pallone, a senior member of the House Resources Committee, Hogarth admitted that the Bush administration planned to implement a mandatory recreational saltwater angler registration system and to charge anglers $20 to $25 annually.

Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, today assailed President Bush for assigning U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff a significant role in our nation's avian flu response plan. The New Jersey congressman held a roundtable discussion with local officials in his congressional district last month on local preparedness for an avian flu pandemic.

Washington, D.C. --- Federal legislation has now been introduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate to fight the trading of illegal body parts. Last week, U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Gene Green (D-TX), both members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, introduced the Safe Tissue Act in the House of Representatives. The legislation was introduced in the Senate by U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Patrick Leahy (D-VT) recently.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today applauded the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) for declaring that the Ringwood Mines/Landfill Superfund site poses a public health hazard, but urged officials to work with other agencies and gather health information directly from residents in order to expedite further study into the impacts of the paint sludge contamination.
