"Piscataway was hit with such severe winds during Superstorm Sandy that many parts were unrecognizable and unsafe the next day, forcing residents and township employees to work tirelessly to remove the trees, branches, and other debris," Pallone said in a news release announcing the Federal Emergency Management Agency funding.

Rep. Frank Pallone, a Democrat representing New Jersey's 6th Congressional District, said he's still amazed by the destruction wrought by Sandy, even five months after the storm. As daunting as the prospect of similar storms striking in the future is, Pallone says, so too is the continuing opposition of Republican opponents in Congress, who reject the science of climate change.

"I don't have to tell you that the amount of damage that was done here at the co-op was extensive," said Pallone. "Not only the processing plant, the fish market, the restaurant, and also to the infrastructure. For the most part, they had no insurance."
