NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) presented Paul Wolfthal of Sayreville, New Jersey with medals for his service on the USS Heritage transport ship for the U.S. Army during World War II. Congressman Pallone’s office worked with the National Personnel Records Center to obtain source documents for Mr. Wolfthal’s medal eligibility. Mr. Wolfthal, who is now 88 years old, has never been recognized with these medals before.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced over $330 million in federal funding to New Jersey school districts through U.S. Department of Education grants to local education agencies (LEAs). The grants to LEAs will provide financial assistance to school districts for services that improve teaching and student learning for children at risk of not meeting challenging state academic achievement standards. There is a special focus on children in low-income communities.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced a $50 million award for tax credits from the U.S. Treasury Department to New Jersey Community Capital, which is located in New Brunswick. The funds, which will be used by New Jersey Community Capital to award tax credits to investors in projects, are aimed at stimulating economic growth in low-income urban neighborhoods and rural communities. A significant priority and target for the tax credits will be areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today at a hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed rule to revise air quality standards for ozone, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, applauded the proposal because of the positive impact it would have on public health. The hearing took place in the Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy and Power.

The witnesses will be Dr. Iris Udasin, Medical Director of the Rutgers’ Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), and one of her patients, David Howley, a New Jersey resident and retired NYPD police officer.

LONG BRANCH, NJ – On Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) will host his annual U.S. Service Academy Day at Naval Weapons Station Earle. The event will provide a forum for students who are interested in attending one of the prestigious U.S. Service Academies to learn more about the process for admission. The event will focus on the admissions process, steps to obtaining a congressional nomination, and lifestyles as Cadets or Midshipmen at the academies.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – In advance of a June 11th hearing on legislation to ensure first responders and survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center continue to receive the monitoring and care they need, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today toured and held a press conference at the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program clinic at Rutgers. WASHINGTON, DC – Following Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.’s (NJ-06) letter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Service requesting the denial of proposed restrictions on fishing for blueline tilefish along the Atlantic coast, NOAA has indefinitely delayed its decision on the proposal. The proposal – from the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council – is for NOAA to apply the South Atlantic’s restriction of one blueline tilefish per vessel, per day to the entire length of the Atlantic.
