Esder Chong, a Rutgers University student who received protection against deportation under former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, was invited by Rep. Frank Pallone, D-New Jersey, to be his guest at the high-profile event.

The invitation comes as White House and congressional negotiations over immigration policy — and the fate of nearly 800,000 DACA recipients — remain unresolved. Trump has ordered the phase out DACA starting in March, in the absence of new authorizing legislation.

Long Branch, N.J. – On Monday February 12, at Clean Ocean Action headquarters, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. and environmental leaders stood together to oppose the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NMFS) consideration of permits to allow seismic testing off the Jersey Shore. Six companies that were denied Incidental Harassment Authorization (IHA) permits during the Obama Administration are currently seeking permits from the Trump Administration, and a decision from NMFS regarding whether to issue those permits is expected soon.
