Washington, D.C. – Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today will join Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan to announce the launch of two competitive grant programs made possible by the recently-enacted Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, enacted last year as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, will invest a total of $27 billion to deploy clean energy and technology projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Sandy Hook, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony today formally transferring ownership of the James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook to the federal government. This National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) federal lab had been operating under a lease agreement with the state. The transfer required an act of Congress that Pallone spearheaded and was officially implemented this year.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today applauded new investments from the Biden Administration to support the conservation and protection of whales. The U.S. Department of Commerce will devote $82 million in funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to support the conservation of the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale.

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced the James J. Howard Marine Sciences Laboratory at Sandy Hook will receive $5 million from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to make critical upgrades to the facility’s saltwater intake system. The system currently suffers from deferred maintenance that threatens the facility’s core research mission.

Long Branch, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced the introduction of a bill that strengthens the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health (BEACH) Act ahead of the start of the beach tourism season. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) original BEACH Act program protects the public’s health by setting water quality criteria for coastal recreational areas and providing states with grants to test water quality and notify the public when conditions are unsafe.

Leonardo, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today joined Secretary of Interior Deb Haaland for a tour of Ohmsett – the National Oil Spill Response Research & Renewable Energy Test Facility. The facility provides independent and objective performance testing of full-scale oil spill response equipment and helps improve technologies through research and development. The facility is managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).
