Rep. Pallone Statement on Senate Passage of Superstorm Sandy Relief Package

January 28, 2013

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement after the Senate passed a $50.5 billion Superstorm Sandy relief package. Pallone’s district includes a large stretch of the Jersey Shore including hard-hit towns like Sea Bright and Union Beach:

“I am pleased that the Senate has acted on the House-passed Superstorm Sandy relief package. It has been frustrating for so many of those who were affected by Sandy’s devastation that it took nearly three months for the Congress to act on such necessary support. That’s why it’s so important that we have finally moved beyond the legislative hurdles that held up the critical assistance that will help us rebuild.

“As a result of today’s Senate action, Sandy victims will be one step closer to putting their business, homes and lives back together. While this is a step in the right direction, there is still a lot of work to do to rebuild the Shore and it is critical that funds be distributed quickly and effectively to help restore normalcy.”
