Pallone Urges Constituents to Stay Safe at the Jersey Shore This Summer

May 26, 2010

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Wednesday released the following statement encouraging his constituents to have fun but be safe while on vacation at the Jersey Shore this summer.

“This Memorial Day weekend is the official start of the summer vacation season when New Jerseyans head to the shore to enjoy the many beautiful seaside towns, parks and beaches in the sixth Congressional district and all along the coast. I have many great memories of growing up at the Jersey shore and as a resident of a shore town look forward each summer to creating new ones with my family.”

“As you spend time at the shore this summer, I urge and remind everyone to be safe. A vacation at the beach is a great time to relax, but not to relax safety habits. Remind your friends and family that texting while driving a car is unsafe and can cause an accident. Please designate a driver before going out drinking and always wear your seatbelts while in the car.

“Accidents are not entirely preventable, but I hope that by thinking twice about these safety precautions my constituents and visitors to the shore are able to avoid any accidents.”
