Pallone Statement on National Park Services Extension of Letter of Intent on Fort Hancock

November 25, 2003

U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after hearing the National Park Service was extending a letter of intent with Sandy Hook Partners for another six months.

"I think its a mistake for the National Park Service to grant this extension. Sandy Hook Partners has had ample time to detail the viability of its proposal, including possible financing. The Park Service needs to meet with the opponents of Sandy Hook Partners and see what alternatives they may offer. Failure to do so is likely to cause the opponents to file suit, and further delay any restoration of historic Fort Hancock."
