Hosts New Jersey Business at Technology Showcase in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-6), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, welcomed iMPak Health, a health technology company located in Neptune, New Jersey, to a showcase being held by the Committee’s Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee. The “Internet of Things” showcase, held in Washington, DC, featured Internet-connected products, highlighted the new and innovative technologies that these products use, and the potential they have for growing the American economy and manufacturing.

“It is exciting to see the innovative work that a company like iMPak Health is doing in the state of New Jersey,” said Congressman Pallone. “Using the latest technology, iMPak Health is taking advantage of wireless technology to help ensure patients are taking their medication and staying healthy. I am glad that they could join us in Washington today, and I look forward to seeing how they continue to use wireless technology in products to help solve patients’ practical health care needs.

The “Internet of Things” generally refers to the ability of everyday objects to connect to the Internet and send and receive data. Examples of these products are home automation devices that allow you to control the lights and temperature in your house from a smart phone and a bracelet that measures your heartrate and tracks your location while transmitting the information to a website. It is estimated that there will be 50 billion connected products like these by 2020.

iMPak Health develops innovative, easy-to-use devices to screen, diagnose, and monitor health conditions through wireless technology. Devices like their Smart Symptom Journal enable patients with chronic conditions to manage their own health on a day-to-day basis. The product tracks a patient’s symptoms, collects the data, and then uploads that personal information to a patient’s smart device or wireless hub. Tools like this help patients communicate more effectively with their care managers and make management of their conditions much easier.

“IMPak Health is honored to be invited to participate in the Internet of Things showcase. We applaud Congress' interests and efforts in raising awareness for the Internet of Things,” said Albert Baker, Director of iMPak Health.

“At iMPak Health, our goal is to empower the patient to take control of their own health. With the help of the ever increasing adoption of the Internet of Things, more and more patients are willing to take that journey, allowing for the expansion of patient centered care services,” added Sandra Elliott, Executive Director of iMPak Health.
