Pallone Announces Nearly $1 Million for NJ Community-Based Behavioral Health Clinics
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced $982,372 in federally funded Planning Grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the state of New Jersey for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics. The grant will help in efforts to improve the behavioral health of New Jersey citizens by providing community-based mental and substance use disorder treatment.
“This federal grant will help New Jersey address behavioral health challenges” said Congressman Pallone. “I am especially glad that the funding will directly assist in our ongoing efforts to combat the drug abuse epidemic. The grant aims to integrate behavioral health into a patient’s full treatment, important to the coordination of care that helps with effective treatment and reintegration into communities.”
The funding was awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in conjunction with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Assistant Secretary of Planning and Evaluation (ASPE). It is part of $22.9 million in Planning Grants for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics to 24 states.
