Pallone Announces Grants of $4 Million to Repair Sandy Damage in Sea Bright, NJ

Long Branch- Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded two federal grants totaling more than $4,000,000 to Sea Bright to help repair the damage that resulted from Hurricane Sandy. The FEMA funding will pay for 90% of the total costs of these projects.

“This critical funding will bring us a step closer to rebuilding Sea Bright, and help restore normalcy in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy,” said Pallone. “The people of Sea Bright have showed tremendous determination and resilience and I am pleased to see FEMA assisting them in their efforts to rebuild.”

“We are so grateful for the public assistance grants that will make it possible to replace facilities lost in Sandy,” said Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long. “FEMA and the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management have worked with Sea Bright over the past four years to help rebuild our town to withstand future storms and I appreciate their efforts. I would like to thank Congressman Pallone for his work to help our community recover from Sandy.”

The first grant provides $2,471,396.14 in federal funding to Sea Bright for the purpose of replacing the First Aid and Police Department buildings. The second grant provides $1,597,880.40 in federal funding to Sea Bright to replace the library, lifeguard station, ticket booths, and restroom buildings that were damaged and destroyed.

In 2013, Congressman Pallone helped pass the Superstorm Sandy Supplemental Appropriations bill, bringing the total Sandy aid enacted by Congress to $60.2 billion. The funding package included federal aid to help homeowners, businesses, and communities recover, and resources to rebuild coastal, transportation, and water infrastructure.
