April 28, 2015

WASHINGTON, DCCongressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Committee, today announced that Rutgers University will receive a $70,000 federal grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Public Health Training Program. The program will help build graduate training in maternal and child health at Rutgers School of Public Health with a focus on increasing the number of students from minority and underserved populations who pursue a career in maternal and child health.

“I am pleased that through this boost to Rutgers' maternal and child health program, the school can help build a healthcare workforce that better reflects the state of New Jersey and is equipped to tackle persistent health disparities," said Congressman Pallone.

The program is supported by and will coordinate with the State of New Jersey Department of Health Division of Family Health Services, the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern New Jersey, Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey, and the March of Dimes.
