Pallone Announces Funding for Community Health Center in Asbury Park
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), Senior Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced that the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center in Asbury Park was awarded a $350,000 grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services. The funding will be used to increase the Center’s patient capacity and to provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations.
“I am pleased the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center was awarded a grant to continue its outstanding work serving our communities,” said Pallone. “I am especially encouraged because this investment in preventative care will and keep New Jersey residents healthy and out of the hospital.”
Today, the Department of Health and Human Services announced $260 million in funding to 290 health centers across the nation for facility renovation, expansion, or construction. This funding comes from the Affordable Care Act’s Community Health Center (CHC) Fund, which was extended with bipartisan support in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015. In his previous role as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, Pallone played a key role in authoring and passing the Affordable Care Act which created the program. Then as Ranking Member of the full Committee he fought for the extension of these funds under MACRA.
