Pallone Announces Clean Energy Grant for Rutgers’ EcoIgnite

New Brunswick - Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a 2016 i6 Challenge grant of $439,190.00 to Rutgers’ EcoIgnite. EcoIgnite is a clean energy proof of concept center and accelerator program. It promotes the invention and innovation of clean technology to advance renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. These include sustainable biomass, wind, solar and waste-based energy.

“A commitment to clean and renewable energy is important for the future of both the environment and the economy,” said Pallone. “Rutgers University is one of the leading research institutions in the world and I look forward to seeing the work that EcoIgnite will do to advance the development of renewable energy.

EDA grants are awarded through a competitive process and focus on building strong economic ecosystems that will support business growth, enhance economic assets, and stimulate job growth.
