Pallone: $4.3 Million Grant Will Pave Future for New Jersey Workers

August 3, 2011
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. Wednesday announced a $4.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation in support of the National Transit Institute at Rutgers. The NTI is a highly-respected research, training, and educational institute that concentrates on public transportation. These funds will support safety and security training, planning and advanced technologies.

“By providing this funding and continuing these valuable training programs, we are investing in the infrastructure of the state and the future of our workers,” said Pallone. “Specialized training programs such as this one will put New Jerseyans back to work and keep them on the job. This is significant funding that will pave a path to better livelihoods for those that receive it and usher New Jersey transit into the future.”

The NTI partners with industry, government, institutions, and associations to create programs that build careers and help make our communities healthier and more livable.
