Pallone: $300 Million for New Jersey Transit a Good Investment for the State
Washington, D.C. --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., issued the following statement today following the announcement by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood that New Jersey Transit will receive $300 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
"When President Obama enacted the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, he was determined to put people to work immediately, to boost the economy by creating jobs and to make smart investments in our future. Today, we are following through on that commitment.
"New Jersey is at the hub of a vital transportation network that feeds the economy of the entire Northeast. By keeping the trains running, we are helping to get the economy up and running and improving mass transit will help relieve our clogged roadways. This is an investment that will literally pay dividends for years to come."
