Pallone: 13 Central NJ Municipalities to Receive Federal Funds for Bullet Proof Vests

October 13, 2006

Washington, DC --- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) today announced that thirteen central New Jersey municipalities have been awarded federal grants to offset the cost of purchasing bullet proof vests for law enforcement personnel. The grants are dispersed through the U.S. Department of Justice's Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant (BVP) program, designed to provide this critical resource to state and local law enforcement.

"I am very pleased that the Justice Department has awarded these grants to so many worthy municipalities in central New Jersey," Pallone said. "These funds will allow local law enforcement authorities the ability to provide their officers with bullet proof vests to ensure their safety while they work hard to protect ours."
