**MEDIA ADVISORY** Congressman Pallone and Senator Menendez to Discuss Efforts to Protect Medicare and Social Security with Belmar Seniors

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) will be hosted by Mayor Matt Doherty at Matisse in Belmar, NJ on Friday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m. for a discussion with seniors about the importance of protecting Medicare and Social Security, as well as the many benefits afforded to seniors through the Affordable Care Act .

Pallone and Menendez will talk about their efforts to block recent attempts by Republicans to end the Medicare guarantee and shifts health costs to seniors. The lawmakers will also discuss how New Jersey’s seniors specifically have been helped by the Affordable Care Act. Almost a million New Jersey seniors have taken advantage of the free preventative health services now covered under Medicare, such as colonoscopies and mammograms and saved more than $95 million on prescription drugs in 2011.
