Press Release

EDISON, NJ – Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) visited the Rabbi Pesach Ramon Yeshiva in Edison today.  Pallone toured the school and addressed students about the political process, his role as a Congressman and the importance of public service.  He also congratulated three students who recently won an environmental essay contest sponsored by the Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health.  Congressman Pallone was joined by Edison Mayor Antonia Ricigliano and Highland Park Mayor Gary Minkoff.

Rabbi Pesach Ramon Yeshiva is an Orthodox Jewish Day School for students in pre-K through eighth grade.  Following a tour of the school, Congressman Pallone spoke to fourth and eighth grade students, and answered their questions about important issues, public service and his responsibilities as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The students at Rabbi Pesach Ramon Yeshiva impressed me with their engagement in the issues driving our political discussions,” said Pallone. “I enjoyed meeting with such a bright group of students, and learning from what issues interested them.  I left the Yeshiva feeling inspired and hopeful that our community and nation are in the hands of such capable and insightful future leaders.”

At the school, Pallone also met with and congratulated Michal Shechter, Ali Reich and Mikayla Elk, three seventh-graders at the school who recently won an environmental essay contest sponsored by the Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health.  Shechter’s essay shared ideas on ways to protect the environment at home; Reich advocated recycling old music books to make into children’s books about recycling; and Elk suggested a smart phone app that would award points for picking up litter.

“The students’ ideas were innovative, inspiring and may ultimately have practical applications to help improve our environment,” Pallone added.
