Congressman Pallone Statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day

April 24, 2017
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement today in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

“Holocaust Remembrance Day stands as a testament that America and the world must never forget the horrific atrocity committed by the Nazis more than six decades ago. Many across the globe remain dedicated to destroying the Jewish people and with hate crimes rising at Jewish synagogues and other places of worship throughout the U.S., we must be fully engaged in confronting anti-Semitism and all other forms of prejudice and hatred.

“Today is a time to honor the 11 million innocent civilians who perished at the hands of the Nazis. The Nazi regime turned the racist and anti-Semitic rhetoric that characterized Adolf Hitler’s rise to power into a systematic killing of Jews, Roma, Poles, LGBT people, and others deemed undesirable.  This day serves not only to remind us of the millions of innocent individuals murdered by the Nazi regime, but also to remind us of our promise of ‘never again’. The world must never stand by and be silent in the face of genocide and hatred.”
