Pallone Statement on Trump Executive Order Attempting to Rollback Offshore Drilling Protections

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), a long-time advocate for protecting New Jersey’s coastal waters, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s executive order attempting to overturn critical offshore drilling protections:

“He can sign whatever he'd like, but President Trump cannot unilaterally change laws. It would take an act of Congress to allow offshore drilling off the East Coast, period. Good luck with that.”

Pallone was instrumental in pushing President Biden to secure permanent protections for the Atlantic Coast earlier this month, a victory celebrated by environmental groups and coastal leaders.
