Pallone Statement on Gov. Murphy Signing Bill to Save Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. released the following statement regarding Governor Murphy signing legislation creating a pilot program to preserve inpatient hospital services and a full-service emergency department at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch:
“I applaud Governor Murphy’s decision to sign this critical bill on his final day in office which will ensure that Long Branch will not lose the hospital services its community depends on. This law locks in a clear path to preserve inpatient care and a full-service emergency department at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, while allowing plans for a new facility in Tinton Falls to move forward responsibly. It prevents disruptions in care, avoids overburdening nearby hospitals, and guarantees that patients, especially vulnerable residents, will continue to have access to lifesaving services close to home. This is a meaningful, lasting action that puts patients first and delivers real certainty for the Long Branch community.”
