Pallone Statement on Anniversary of January 6 Insurrection

January 6, 2022

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today issued the following statement on the anniversary of the attempted insurrection on January 6, 2021:

"Today, we remember the unprecedented assault on our democracy that took place on January 6, 2021. We reaffirm our commitment to never allow violence to threaten our democracy and prevent Congress from performing its constitutional duties. This anniversary is a solemn reminder that even today threats to overturn future elections persist and must be taken seriously. We also honor the memory of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, a New Jersey native, who tragically lost his life. We will never forget his unwavering commitment and tremendous sacrifice to our nation on that day. I am grateful to the Capitol Police officers who bravely defended the Capitol that day and risked their lives and safety to protect our democracy."
