Pallone Statement on 23rd Anniversary of September 11th Terrorist Attacks
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today issued the following statement in remembrance of the lives lost and the resilience of the American people on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Pallone, who represents many communities deeply impacted by the tragedy, reflected on the lasting impact of that day and the importance of continuing to support victims' families and first responders.
“Twenty-three years ago, the world changed forever on September 11th, and New Jersey felt that impact deeply. We lost nearly 750 of our own—our neighbors, friends, and family members. The pain never fades, but neither does our resolve. Across our state, countless first responders answered the call that day, and in the days that followed, with courage that cannot be overstated. And too many of them, like James Zadroga, paid for that courage with their health and their lives.
“We’ve fought tooth and nail to ensure these heroes are not forgotten. From the James Zadroga 9/11Health and Compensation Act to securing billions in additional funding for the World Trade Center Health Program, we’ve stood by those who stood by us. But the fight isn’t over. We’ve got to make sure this program stays funded for years to come—no excuses.
“Today, as we remember the lives lost and the bravery shown, we also recommit to those still with us—those battling illness from that day and the families left behind. In New Jersey, we don’t forget. We honor through action, and that’s what we’ll continue to do.”
