Pallone Secures Over $630,000 to Support Upgrades to Carteret’s Emergency Management Building
Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that he secured $637,195 to help renovate Carteret’s emergency operations building in the Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security spending bill that passed in the House today. The Senate is expected to consider the underlying legislation and send it to President Biden’s desk for his signature.
The funding will be used to help replace Carteret’s current Office of Emergency Management facilities, including a newer, larger facility that will include a garage area for vehicles, sufficient storage for emergency supplies such as food and bottled water, and proper space for generators and emergency communications equipment. The building also includes a conference room to serve as a gathering and coordination space for all emergency department heads and Borough leaders during emergency events and a call and dispatch center.
“I’m proud to announce today that I’ve secured federal funding to support Carteret’s renovations to its emergency response infrastructure. This funding will help give first responders the resources they need to respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently,” said Pallone. “I’m glad we were able to get this funding across the finish line.”
“This funding will go a long way in updating and modernizing our emergency preparedness and response to critical situations. As an urban costal community that’s a stone’s throw away from New York City, preparedness is key to preventing, mitigating, and recovering from natural and manmade disasters,” said Mayor Dan Reiman. “We applaud Congressman Pallone’s efforts to secure funding toward this project.”
