Pallone Secures Nearly $1 Million for Sewer Pump Station in Sayreville
Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that he secured $959,752 for a sewer pump station in Sayreville in the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development spending bill. President Biden signed the underlying legislation into law last week.
The funding will be used for the reconstruction of the sanitary sewer pumping station in the Melrose section of the Borough. The proposed facility would eliminate the potential for operational failure during future flood events and the associated health and safety issues that result from wastewater overflows. The station suffered significant damage from Superstorm Sandy and more recent flooding events exposed the risk the station faces without upgrades.
“I’m proud to announce today that I’ve secured federal funding for Sayreville. This funding will allow the Borough to rebuild the sewer pump station so that it can operate effectively,” said Pallone. “This project will help protect public health and safety by ensuring the station can withstand a major flooding event. I’m glad we were able to get this project across the finish line.”
“In my sixth term as Mayor, I can attest to the immutable fact that Congressman Pallone has always been a fierce advocate on behalf of the needs of municipalities in his district,” said Mayor Kennedy O'Brien. “We are beyond grateful to the Congressman for obtaining this funding for the Borough of Sayreville to complete this vital infrastructure project.”
