Pallone Calls for Constituent Stories After Flood of Calls on Trump-Musk Federal Layoffs
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) is calling on New Jersey residents to share their stories as his office is inundated with calls from federal workers who have lost their jobs due to mass layoffs under President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). To ensure these workers aren’t ignored, Pallone has launched a survey to collect firsthand accounts of the real-life consequences of these firings. More than 22,500 New Jerseyans work for the federal government.
“Trump and his unelected billionaire buddy, Musk, are waging a war on America’s federal workers – one that comes at a real human cost. This is about NJ families suddenly left without paychecks, mortgage payments at risk, and communities losing the people who keep them safe and healthy,” Pallone said. “These workers protect our environment, support our veterans, and safeguard public health. Gutting the federal workforce like this isn’t just reckless, it’s dangerous for everyone. I refuse to let these stories go unheard.”
The survey, available on Pallone’s official website, gives federal workers in New Jersey’s 6th District a way to share their experiences, whether publicly or anonymously. Pallone’s office previously launched a similar effort to document the fallout from Trump’s federal funding freeze, and the response underscored the devastating impact on families and communities.
The scale of Trump’s federal workforce cuts is staggering. Thousands of federal workers have already been laid off, with probationary employees and critical agencies like the Department of Veterans Affairs, the EPA, and the CDC hit hardest. Pallone recently highlighted a 20 percent reduction in staff for the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP), a move that puts the health of 9/11 first responders and survivors at risk.
New Jersey residents affected by the layoffs can access the survey here and reach out to Pallone’s office for assistance. Pallone remains committed to holding the Trump administration accountable for these illegal layoffs and standing up for New Jersey workers.
