Pallone Applauds Decision to Protect New Jersey Fishing
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) applauded the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (ASMFC) Atlantic Striped Bass Board’s adoption of a policy that will achieve agreed upon conservation goals while treating New Jersey’s fishing industry fairly. The decision establishes fair catch limits and allows states to submit their own conservation equivalent plans. The Board’s management plan follows recommendations Pallone encouraged in a letter he sent to ASMFC this week.
“I applaud the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s decision. This management plan will help ensure that New Jersey’s fishing industry will be treated fairly while protecting the Striped Bass population,” Congressman Pallone said. “This is good news for New Jersey and the hardworking families in our fishing communities.”
