Pallone Announces Over $150,000 to Support Public Safety in Neptune and Perth Amboy
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced over $150,000 in federal funding to support critical public safety initiatives in Neptune Township and the City of Perth Amboy through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The Bureau of Justice Assistance, a division of the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, awarded the grants to help strengthen local law enforcement, enhance community safety, and fund innovative crime prevention efforts.
“This funding is a significant boost for our communities, empowering local law enforcement with the tools and resources they need to enhance public safety,” said Pallone. “From addressing violent crime to supporting crime prevention and mental health programs, these grants represent a commitment to ensuring our neighborhoods are safe and equitable for everyone.”
Neptune Township will receive $48,501, while Perth Amboy will be awarded $104,432. These funds will enable local officials to invest in programs that combat crime, assist victims, and promote justice system reform.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program is the leading federal source of criminal justice funding for state and local jurisdictions. Named in honor of NYPD Officer Edward Byrne, who was killed in the line of duty, the program funds a range of initiatives, including law enforcement, drug treatment, mental health services, and community corrections. Since its inception, the JAG program has delivered over $7.6 billion in critical funding to communities nationwide.
