Medicare was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on July 30, 1965 in Independence, Missouri. Thanks to Medicare, virtually all Americans 65 and older have health care coverage. Medicare has increased both seniors’ health and economic security.

Pallone’s Proposal to Fix Medicare Doctor Payment System Gains Momentum

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr.’s (NJ-06) bipartisan proposal to fix the long-plagued Medicare doctor payment system, the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), passed the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. Pallone Helps Broker Proposal to Fix Medicare Doctor Payment System

LONG BRANCH, NJ—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. announced that the long-plagued Medicare doctor payment system, the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), is a step closer to being fixed as a result of bipartisan proposal he helped draft. With HIV/AIDS Funding at Risk in New Jersey, Congressman Pallone Pushes to Extend Current Law

Long Branch, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), the top Democrat for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, joined with local HIV/AIDS advocates and a client of Ryan White services at the offices of Hyacinth AIDS Foundation in Newark, New Jersey to announce his legislation that will maintain vital funding for the Ryan White program to continue serving the HIV/AIDS community in New Jersey and provide essential care that allows these individuals to live longer and more prolific lives. The Ryan White program is set to expire in September of this year, and Pallone’s legislation calls for current law to remain in place until Congress works to reauthorize the program.

Pallone To Introduce Bill To Prevent Medicare Prescription Drug Abuse & Fraud | NJ Today

“Millions of Americans benefit from Medicare’s drug coverage program each year, which is why it’s imperative that checks are in place to prevent fraud and abuse as well as to protect patients. We cannot allow Medicare’s prescription drug program to be compromised at taxpayer expense. My bill, the Part D Prescription Drug Integrity Act of 2013, will strengthen the Medicare law to help address potential factors contributing to prescription drug abuse.”
