Pallone Statement on SCOTUS decision on Trump Travel Ban

June 26, 2017

Washington, DC- Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to hear arguments on President Trump's travel ban executive order. The Supreme Court will allow parts of the order to proceed while it considers the case.

“Numerous federal courts throughout the country have ruled against the Trump administration on its dangerous, impractical and discriminatory executive order on immigration. I am deeply disappointed that the Supreme Court decided to contradict these rulings and allow the President’s executive order to partially move forward until the case is heard. For those attempting to travel to our country, any period in which the President’s extreme travel ban is allowed to stand may cause immense suffering.

“The Supreme Court should rule against the Trump administration given it has failed to show any legitimate heightened security risk for people traveling from the impacted countries and given the President cannot help contradicting himself by calling the travel ban a “ban”. I will continue to oppose these reckless actions and support those seeking to travel to this country – especially those seeking to make a better, more peaceful life for themselves and their families.”
