Pallone Honors Sayreville WWII Veteran with Distinguished Medals

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) presented Paul Wolfthal of Sayreville, New Jersey with medals for his service on the USS Heritage transport ship for the U.S. Army during World War II. Congressman Pallone’s office worked with the National Personnel Records Center to obtain source documents for Mr. Wolfthal’s medal eligibility. Mr. Wolfthal, who is now 88 years old, has never been recognized with these medals before.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to recognize Paul Wolfthal’s sacrifices and bravery while serving his country during World War II,” said Congressman Pallone. “I am glad that my office was able to secure the medals for this long-overdue recognition of his service.”

At his New Brunswick District Office, the Congressman presented Mr. Wolfthal with the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII.
