Pallone Announces $1.29 Million for Public Housing Developments in New Jersey’s 6th District

March 23, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) located in New Jersey’s 6th District will receive a total of over $1.29 million to help with the operation and management costs associated with public housing developments. The funding, which is awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), provides assistance to PHAs to help with the upkeep of public housing. Twelve Housing Authorities throughout the 6th District, in both Middlesex and Monmouth counties, will receive funding.

“This funding will provide necessary support to public housing developments throughout our District,” said Congressman Pallone. “It will allow our local Housing Authorities to maintain these developments and continue to provide affordable housing to residents. This investment will have a tremendous impact on the community, and I want to thank HUD for making these investments in New Jersey’s 6th District.”

In New Jersey’s 6th District, the recipients of the 2015 Operating Subsidy awards include the Housing Authorities of Asbury Park, Carteret, Edison, Highland Park, Highlands, Middletown, Keansburg, Long Branch, New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, South Amboy, and Woodbridge.

This funding is provided by HUD’s Office of Public Housing Investments, which provides funds annually to over 3,000 PHAs across the country managing over 7,000 public housing projects across the country.
