Congressman Pallone Statement on Donald J. Trump, Jr. Emails

Jul 12, 2017

Washington, DC – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) released the following statement on emails involving Donald J. Trump, Jr. and connections to Russia .

“For nearly a year, Donald Trump, his campaign, and his Administration have denied inappropriate contact with Russia. Yet, we continue to learn about more “forgotten” meetings and contacts with Russian officials. No reasonable person can believe that the failure to disclose these meetings were mere oversights. What we learned today from the released emails is that the Trump family, and highest levels of the Trump campaign, were more than willing to accept assistance from the Russian government to help the campaign of Donald Trump for President.  Russia is an adversarial nation. These overtures should have been reported to law enforcement, not rewarded with a meeting in Trump Tower. There is no greater evil than working with a foreign adversary to sabotage our democracy, and anyone who acted in a potentially treasonous way, must be investigated immediately. Given that President Trump’s campaign manager, son-in-law and close advisor were also present at this meeting, it defies belief that President Trump was unaware and unengaged. I call upon my colleagues in the House to put Country before Party and immediately investigate these latest revelations.”
